Budgeting

Many people believe that they need to spend a lot of money in order to take someone on a date. Fortunately, there are actually several different ways to create a romantic mood without emptying your wallet. In fact, you can easily schedule multiple dates that will cost you less than $20 each.

Tips for Creating Romance on a Budget

1) Stargazing – Meteor showers happen throughout the year, and you can easily find a list online of prime stargazing opportunities in your area. To enhance the date, you can bring a late night picnic, a bottle of wine and a comfortable blanket with you. Spending a couple of hours together watching a meteor shower or a comet will definitely provide you with a romantic ambiance, and you can enhance the mood by ensuring that the two of you are in an area where you are unlikely to be disturbed.

2) Art Fairs – Most art fairs and other similar festivals have free admission, and it is also typical for these events to feature free live music. Walking through an art fair together will give you the opportunity to learn about each other’s artistic tastes, and you can also save money by buying a snack from one of the food trucks instead of going out to dinner.

3) Matinee Movies – Going to dinner and a movie is a classic date because everyone enjoys eating and being entertained. However, this date can be way too expensive for someone who is on a budget. Therefore, you should consider making lunch for your date or taking them to an inexpensive diner before you go to a matinee movie. Most theaters have discounted pricing before 6 p.m., and you can also save money by ordering from the lunch menu of your favorite restaurant.

4) Hiking – If your date enjoys spending time in the great outdoors, you could schedule a hike through a beautiful local area. Keep in mind that it is best to select a trail that has an easy to moderate rating. After all, even if your date typically goes on high intensity hikes, it will be more romantic for the two of you to be able to stroll together hand in hand through nature. You can also pack a picnic if you are planning to be in the woods for several hours.

5) Cycling: If hiking doesn’t appeal or you do not have a trail local to you, then why not consider cycling instead.  Bikes can be hired cheaply and just as with hiking you can pack a picnic lunch to take with you.

6) Cupcakes: These humble little cakes have soared in popularity in recent years and for many a luxury cupcake has become their weekly treat as opposed to dinner in a restaurant! Flavors, shapes and decorations are many and varied, providing plenty of choice when it comes to choosing the perfect cake for your loved one.  Costing just a few dollars each, a cupcake gift once a week is a lovely way to show how much you care!

7) Camping break: If you fancy taking them away for a few days but your budget doesn’t run to a fancy hotel or exotic location, then why not take them camping instead.  A couple of nights under canvas, may not appeal to everyone but it can make for a very romantic and cozy getaway.  Imagine snuggling up around the campfire and watching the night sky together.

8) Symbolizing your commitment: If you have decided that you would like to cement your commitment or even propose but cannot afford an engagement ring, an alternative option to symbolize your commitment is a promise ring. These rings offer the perfect way to let your significant other know how you feel about them without incurring massive debt. Therefore, many couples start with commitment rings when they are dealing with a limited budget.

Whether you choose to spend an evening stargazing or decide to cook dinner and watch a movie on DVD, you can easily create a romantic but inexpensive setting as long as you take the time to consider your date’s interests. After all, some people love going on hikes and others prefer to stay indoors as much as possible.

Love certainly doesn’t have to be expensive. With a bit of creativity and looking around there are opportunities to indulge your love in something worth the memories.
To that list you can add picnics to local tourist attractions, its never that expensive and you can target the off seasons to enjoy some quality time.
