To master your craft, it’s important to have good tools. R.W. over at NewsNotion recently posted this great article revealing what he thinks the best wordpress plugins for your money-making blog are. I think I was running them all except for the twitter one, which I am TOTALLY GOING TO INSTALL RIGHT NOW.

There are a ton of these lists out there, but for my money making blog, these are the five wordpress plugins I would not want to do without!
1) CommentLuv – Plugin to show a link to the last post from the commenters blog by parsing the feed at their given URL when they leave a comment. Rewards your readers and encourage more comments.
2) Dofollow – Disables the rel=nofollow attribute in comments.
3) Google XML Sitemaps – This plugin will generate a sitemaps.org compatible sitemap of your WordPress blog which is supported by Ask.com, Google, Bing, and YAHOO.
4) WP to Twitter – Updates Twitter when you create a new blog post or add to your blogroll using Cli.gs. With a Cli.gs API key, creates a clig in your Cli.gs account with the name of your post as the title.
5) FeedBurner FeedSmith – Originally authored by Steve Smith, this plugin detects all ways to access your original WordPress feeds and redirects them to your FeedBurner feed so you can track every possible subscriber.

Very useful post. Right now I’m using Dofollow and so far, it’s doing great with my blog. I’ll go try the others you listed here.

I use Joomla for my blogging and designing needs (not trying to raise a CMS issue of what is best) but does anybody have good plugins for Joomla that will help also??

CommentLuv works best for my blog. I like it in the sense that it makes your blog interactive by showing a link to the last post from the commenters. Great job by the CommentLuv there.

And i thought that i had all the plugin’s i needed already installed. I think the first two are going to be added to my blog very soon, i think it makes it more inviting for people to post, as it gives more benefits then just a link people may click.
Thanks

Tried using the WP to Twitter plugin. Interconnecting platforms. That’s the coolest plugin I’ve used so far.

I don’t know If I said it already but …Cool site, love the info. I do a lot of research online on a daily basis and for the most part, people lack substance but, I just wanted to make a quick comment to say I’m glad I found your blog. Thanks,
A definite great read..

Mmm ok. More plugins. The DoFollow plugin SOUNDS like a good idea, but I’m wondering if it’s ethical (so to speak) for me to use given that I do like to nofollow links in my pages. What’s the benefit of DoFollowing? Are there any benefits to taking out my nofollows?

I don’t really understand your ethical concern, but in terms of reasons why you might want to consider making your blog dofollow:
1. It encourages quality people to leave quality comments.
2. It rewards quality commenters for their participation.
3. It improves search engine performance (if you follow a sensible comment policy).
4. It helps you grow your RSS subscriptions and builds a better blog community.
5. It facilitates the purpose of linking, instead of crippling it with “No Follow”.

Thanks for your post, I found it very interesting. Trying to wrap my head around it it’s mind boggling.

I use commentluv as well as keyword luv. Both are great. I find it interesting that many of the people who commented on this post that these are “great plug ins” do not use them. They are missing the boat.
